Hi BobJoe!!

How do you fit into the clan!?  I'd love to know as I am trying to update all the branches

On James's immigration record he lists Ballyragget as his place of birth.  As well as his marriage record I believe.  I'll have to double check that.  But I do have a piece of paper that's him and says he's born in Ballyragget. 

The original document I started this obession with was from my Uncle Cyril Downey.

This is what I can find....but I do have a photocopy of a church record somewhere as well....

Found it!!!  Seems my dates are off somehow in the translation.  Their listing is in between the dark black lines with they typed 1810 on the right.

I'm looking for information on Patrick Downey & Margaret Ring , they married 1880 in Conahy
Patrick was a farmer , know that he died 1901 aged 74
children were Nicholas , Michael , Patrick, John , Ellen, Joseph, Julia, Brigid.
Margaret's parents were John Ring & Catherine Crennan
they were farmers in Rathkyle

Patrick Downey  parents were John Downey 1781-1870 Conahy and Mary Bergen 1786-1856

Bergen name is a new find in search

i 2 have Rings of Rathkyle in my tree...thought we may have the same Mary Ring but mine was b.1820 Rathkyle.
any chance you stumbled across a 3rd Ring family abt that time?i have John Ring & Catherine Crennan(8 children)..........and Jer Ring & Mary Carpenter(7 children)

I have been finding my way back in my family tree and have found the Downeys. My mother Ellen MacIsaac is from Cape Breton. Her Mother was Amanda Jennings whose is the daughter of Patrick Jennings, who is the son of Anne Downey the daughter of Anastasia O'Hearn and Patrick Downey. I traced them back to Ireland where it ends. If anyone wants to contact me please do, this is all very interesting.
