Berrills, the family that built Bozeat
« on: Sunday 19 May 13 15:45 BST (UK) »
Dear Rootschatters,

My maternal great grandfather was William Berrill, mason, born Bozeat in 1843, and his father was Thomas Wykes Berrill, mason, born Bozeat in 1818.

I have recently received from New Zealand (!) copies of a series of articles published in "About Bozeat" in 1986 under the title "The family that built Bozeat" written by the Rev Norman Palmer (not related to me as far as I know). Both these gentlemen are mentioned in the article along with many other Berrills but it seems that there may have been further items relating to the Berrills published later. The last article I have makes reference to the future publication of Gloria Wallis's family tree, of an article by John Berrill, great grandson of Levi Berrill, and possibly pages from the Berrill Family Bible (from Dennis Perkins?).

If anyone has copies of these articles, my contact in NZ and myself, would be very interested to hear from them. I would also be interested to hear from any other researchers into the Berrill family.

Thanks in advance,

Paul Palmer

Hi Paul/ilueah.

Northampton Library have a copy of the book noted by iluleah.

It's ISBN numbers are ISBN-10: 1899597131 or  ISBN-13: 978-1899597130

Not sure that it is still in print as it was published 2004.

Hi iluleah/Sandy,

Thanks for your replies.

I had forgotten Penny Mercer's page! Will follow up on that idea.

Sandy, not sure which book you are referring too as there are several mentioned on Penny's page. Maybe "Bozeat 2000"? Been looking for that one for several years now! One of my aunts used to work for Whartons!

Hi again Sandy,

Never seen that site before but it is almost certainly the same Penny Mercer  :)

The page I referred to is the Genuki page mentioned in iluleah's post and Penny has an Aussie e-mail address  ;)

Morning Paul.

I agree about the web site.

I thought it meant just the one book.

Penny Mercer has identified the following articles/chapters in the above book which may be of interest to family historians:

Good to find so much info about Northants folk on Penny's web site.  :)

Hi Paul

Bernard Harcourt Berrill (1896-1978) b London d Leamington but lived in Northampton and had children.

Bernard married Margaret Thorneloe of same years and had a son and three daughters ;

Mary Elaine

Not sure if this helps
Bartlett -  Hampshire via London to Northants
Rimes - Northants, Llandudno and Birmingham
Garrett - Northants
Thorneloe - Leics and Northants
Jackson, Powell - Staffordshire
