Bingo, regarding the “4th“ child.

A John RICHMOND was buried in the grave next to Agnes Muir RICHMOND (with her father John RICHMOND).

As per the "South Australian Register" Monday 22 March 1886, page 3 ;
"RICHMOND. - On the 15th March, after long and severe suffering, borne with Christian fortitude, John, only son of the late John Richmond, of Glen Urquhart, Torrens, aged 49."

As cement, Mary Ann RICHMOND (their sister), was married (secondly) to John Stuart DUNCAN in 1870 at “Res of bride Glenurquhart”.

I have scanned newspapers and as yet, I have not found the entry that says "RICHMOND Mr and wife, and 4 children".

Not everything is on TROVE.

The late Di CUMMINGS is a well respected researcher and compiled the passenger list.

Shipping Intelligence reports were published in the South Australia Gazette and Colonial Register and in other newspapers of the day.  I can't see that the Colonial Register has been digitised.

In court…a lengthy and wordy report!!

There is only one John RICHMOND death registered in SA prior to 1864 so found this notice puzzling.

Referring to a paragraph which appeared in "The Advertiser" last week regarding the building known as "Graham's Castle," a correspondent writes:-"the land was bought in 1840, and enclosed by almost the first stone wall built in South Australia. The house was built by the late Mr. John Richmond, father of Mrs. J. S. Duncan, of Almond Grove, Woodville, and Miss Richmond, and sold by him in 1846 or 1847 to the late Mr. Graham, who added to the building. They never heard that it was haunted."

Thank you cando & Wivenhoe,

Excellent finds and the basis of further research by me. More so the 1864 Administration.

This certainly removes any doubt about this John RICHMOND arriving in 1839.

Well done to everyone and a genuine thank you to all who have looked.

Best Regards
Grantley

I wonder if this actually referred to a John Henry RICHMAN who died 21 Jan 1864, and his widow Frances who died the following year.

Thank you.

I don't know how I missed his death registration. I did try & look for all spelling variations. Obviously I didn't look good enough.
