Thanks, I  figured that might be the case.

I also came up with another possible match on the Tithe Applotments:

Pat Tracy, Rosmore, Ballynakill, Galway, Ballynakill is about 11 km South of Tynagh, the name is a match, but again no way to link him yet to my family.

I have another question, I know that my Great-Grandmother was Bridget Boland. I have a Church Marriage Record that she married Edward Treacy in Killimor, Galway on 20 Jan 1857. There were no parents named for either spouse, but the witnesses were John Boland and Michael Burke. I know that she died at age 67 in Derrew, Eyrecourt, Galway on 20 Jan 1907. Edward Teacy was the Informant.

I have found 2 different Church Baptism Records for her name.

One is for Bridget Bolan, in Ballinasloe, Galway, born 8 July 1834  and baptized 21 July 1834. The Father was Bernard Bolan and the Mother was Bridget (Not Recorded). The witnesses were Arnold Sellars and Mary Coen.

The second is for Bridget Boland, in Tynagh, Galway, baptized 15 Jan 1828. The Father was Michael Boland and the Mother was Bridget Nugent. The witnesses were John Boland and Banthee Kinvoie.

Is the second birth more likely to be my relative, due to the Tynagh connection and haveing a John Boland as a witness to both the marriage and birth?

Thanks.

I haven't made any progress in finding out information about Patrick Treacy and Mary Egan, but I have  come into contact with 4 different surname Treacy, Irish 3rd cousins. They are all descended from different brothers of my Great-Grandfather Edward Treacy.

They might not have any information from back in the early 1800's, but it is nice to know that there are still relatives in the area.

I'm still hoping that someone kept the old Family Records.

I heard from my 3rd cousin that possibly my Great-Grandfather Edward Treacy and 2 of his brothers John & Michael were in the Royal Irish Constabulary for short times.

I found these records on Ancestry.com:

Tracy EDWd
Birth Date/Age:   20
Birthplace:   Galway
Enlisted:   1854
Film #:   856061
Page #:   99B

Treasy John
Birth Date/Age:   19
Birthplace:   Galway
Enlisted:   1855
Film #:   856062
Page #:   38

Treacy Michael
Birth Date/Age:   18
Birthplace:   Galway
Film #:   6066
Page #:   30
Year:   1870

I don't know the exact birth years for Edward & John, but they are approximately correct in the mid 1830's. Michael's birth date was 1852 which agrees with the Ancestry.com info.

Is there any way to find out more about R.I.C. Records and determine if these are my relatives?

Thanks,

Donegal: Kelly, Diver

I have found very many Irish Petty Court Sessions references to my Treacy family on Findmypast.ie.

They confirm a few stories about them that are on the Galway pages of traceyclan.com.

It is nice to read about events that actually happened, not just dates etc.

Hopefully in the future more information will be available online.

All of my Irish cousins state that the Treacy family came from Carhoon, Tynagh and that Nicholas Tracey who is mentioned as occupying  17 acres of land in Carhoon was Patrick’s brother. As I previously stated, I have no proof of that. I have found Census Records that show that a Patrick Treacy, possibly the son of Nicholas lived in Carhoon in 1901 & 1911.

Census Years 1901 Galway Moat Carhoon Residents of a house
Residents of a house 1 in Carhoon (Moat, Galway)
Surname          Forename   Age Sex   Relation to head Religion

Treacy               Bridget         5     Female   Daughter   Roman Catholic

Treacey         Margaret   22   Female   Daughter   Roman Catholic
Treacey         Patrick    20   Male           Son           Roman Catholic

My cousins also state that some of the Treacy’s from Carhoon moved to Killadullisk, specifically Edward Treacy. I see from the RootsIreland.ie Civil Marriage Record that Edward Treacy of Carew married Mary Keating of Keilidilsk on 10 Apr 1875. His father is listed as Nicholas treacy and her father is Michael Keating. The witnesses were James Egan and Bridget Egan.

Census Years 1901 Galway Derrew Kiladullisk Residents of a house
Residents of a house 4 in Kiladullisk (Derrew, Galway)
Surname  Forename   Age   Sex   Relation to head  Religion
Treacy       Edward           50   Male   Head of Family   Roman Catholic

Tracy               Agnes           19   Female   Daughter   Catholic Church

Tracy               Elizabeth   13   Female   Daughter   Catholic Church
Tracy               Margaret   11   Female   Daughter   Catholic Church

Is there a way to find out more information on Nicholas Tracey & Patrick Treacy from Carhoon and Edward Treacy from Killadullisk?

What I really need would be their parents names, but I have not been able to find them.

Thanks.
