Boyce Family from Ireland to New Brunswick
« on: Monday 08 September 14 20:19 BST (UK) »
My gggGreat Grandfather Michael C Boyce was born Aug 11 1833 in New Brunswick..
He married a woman named Ellen Hanley who was born in Ireland 1832
They immigrated to Minnesota around 1850..
The only record I have for that time frame is a baptism record for Michael Boyce
from St patricks church of nelson northumberland

Just jotting down some things...I take it you haven't the marriage to Elllen/Helen? or if you do it has no parents?
You may have this info but for noting for others and myself...
His U.S. Army enlistment 1855/ 10th infantry H -  where he was a cooper in Portland Maine, says he was born 1834 St. John's New Brunswick
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-26470-53195-36?cc=1880762

In 1900 he says month of May...If you are going by the death info it actually says August 4th 1833
...death info is only as accurate as what the person declaring information knows...

in 1875 he says parents are born N.B. but some later census say Ireland

It appears there was also a another  Boyce in the 10th, one who died from injuries in battle, as  a Sergeant and a lieutenant are spoken of as injured in battles...
http://www.history.army.mil/books/R&H/R&H-10IN.htm

Did you see this marriage of a Michael C. Boyce in Portland Maine March 1863 to a Mary A O Kain ( O Kane ) but there are no parents listed...
But then a Mary A Boyce claims a widow's pension in 1868...so must be a different fellow
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-24150-27654-72?cc=1919699
There is one born 1817, doesn't say where, buried Maine...wonder if he was related?

I finally found the lad you mentioned as Boyse in 1851 N.B. says age 7 though not age 17 ... although it could have been an entry error. This lad is a servant with an Ann...compelling... as the household head is a farmer/ lumberer...

Great census find J.J.!

The image has Michael's age as 17, although it is badly written.

I think the head of household might be Michael's brother-in-law.

We search for information but it is up to the thread owner to verify that it is correct.

Yes you're so right polarbear, here is the death of son Thomas, mother Bridget
The Boyce children appear to be orphaned as well, as I see no adult Boyce in 1851 Northumberland...

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XG87-34V

and UGH what a horrible 17 as the person tended to drop the front of each seven as it was...
But you are correct, P.B. a super close look convinced these poor eyes!!!

I am finding it difficult to find more family...so far have found the surname as Boise, Boyce, Boyse, BoyesBoice,

I think an R. catholic baptism for Catherine is as Catherine Boise ...Perhaps Anne as well, and there may also be a james???

The marriage may be in here, but who knows if they married Northumberland

Just in case this may be a brother for Catherine... a  Michael O'Hearn marries a Mary Carrol

A thomas Boise and Mary ann Mc Bean married Northumberland

Anything in the Drouin marriages?

Wow, are Michael & Mary O'Hearn also passed away? One living with and uncle, the others out on their own..no sign of parents

Thank you so much for the information and records you have shared..I have been trying to trace
the Boyce Family from Ireland to Canada and the US for years..
The other side of the Boyce family can be found in Quebec..St Elzear,St Sylvestre and surrounding areas..close to 2000 Boyce's in all
