Well that was quick work Irish Registry! Marriage certificate arrived in Aus today!

Pat Smyth and Julia Duffy were wed on 13.3.1906.

Pat is listed as a farmer living in Castlerea at time of marriage, of age, and father Hugh Smyth a farmer too.

Julia Duffy is listed also as a farmer living in Aughaderry at time of marriage, of age, and father John Duffy a farmer.

Married at the RC chapel at Loughglynn by Canon White.

Any further pointers gratefully appreciated.

Regards

Diana

Hello Diana,

To identify which John Duffy was married to Anne Noone it will be necessary to confirm the last residence of John which will be on the certificate (Aghaderry) from which an estimated age hopefully will lead to identifying the Patrick Duffy , of which there were many in Loughglynn who was his father. A word of warning the online parish records do not appear to include the father’s name so it may require sourcing the LDS microfilm and viewing at a regional centre

John Duffy deaths Ballaghaderreen dispensary district of Castlereagh, Roscommon

1881 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FT9B-TJ8  aged 21
1884 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTQF-LJ7 aged 26
1887 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FT49-T4C aged 67
1892 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTC8-13N aged 33
1893 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTZS-QTP  aged 73
1900 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FT66-2JH  aged 63

Some of the above options will stand out as unlikely and you may have to select two or three to hedge your bets. You can go online to http://roscommon.rootsireland.ie/ and view a transcribed copy or apply as you have previously and have them sourced through GRO.

Thanks again Padraig3, I am going away for 10 days but will get onto this on my return. I think I have narrowed the field to John Duffy died 1892?
