Were John J. Walsh & Mary Walsh married to each other? if so, was Walsh Mary's maiden name as well as her married one? Were they married in Ireland or America?

Some of this might duplicate what you already know bu the best way to find details of the them in Ireland is to work back through U.S. records looking for clues.

1930 census- John to U.S. 1905, Mary to U.S. 1912. So it looks as though they arrived separately and probably married in America.

1920 census- John to U.S. 1907, Mary 1911 (such discrepancies between different census are not uncommon)

Now for possible marriages (could be others)- see next post
1911 John Joseph Walsh & Mary Agnes Doherty

Family in 1940? so there's another daughter, William is married and son Matthew listed as Martin-
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/K4JT-ZRK

Found birth registrations for 2 eldest children which gives mother's name as Mary O'Brien which eliminates the 2 possible married posted earlier.
John (1915) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FXKL-3TP
William (1917) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/23R6-ZNN

An online tree also lists John Walsh & Mary O'Brien as the parents but no details of family in Ireland.

Now, the next problem is finding the correct marriage...

Marriage 17 Jan.1915 for John Walsh (parents John Walsh & Mary Comer) & Mary O'Brien (parents William O'Brien & Bridget Joyce)- address for both is 56 Conant St. (son John for correct couple born 5 April at 37 Smith St.).
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N4FR-5J3

Another marriage in 1907 (too early for Mary to be in U.S.)-
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FCSD-3Y2

FamilySearch have extracted Irish births 1864-c1881 (too early for John & Mary to be listed but older siblings might be although difficult to be sure with common surnames and even more common Christian names). Searching with parents as John Walsh & Mary Comer (from above marriage) has a births in Galway. However, what also shows up in another Boston marriage (1906) for a Catherine Walsh. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N488-V2J Equally confusing is an 1899 marriage (that's the trouble with common names)- https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N44K-9Z4
Death (1913) for Nora Shiels, daughter of a John Walsh & Mary Comer- listed as Honora for 1901 marriage:

There was an earlier topic looking for Mary's family on the Tyrone board although you said she was born in Waterford and in 1866 so there seems to be some confusion here. Where did you get Waterford as the birthplace of Mary and husband John? and are you sure that you are tracing the correct John & Mary Walsh?
