Margaret Martyn of St Columb Minor
« on: Thursday 23 January 14 14:39 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone please help identify which Margaret Martyn married John Sampson at St Columb Minor on 9 Dec 1721? She is referred to in a lease dated 8 June 1726 as being "aged about 23 years".  Possible candidates baptised at St Columb Minor are : 4 Sept 1698, dau of Richard Martyne; 7 Feb 1701, dau of John Martin; 5 Feb 1704, dau of Richard and Jane Martin; 6 May 1704, dau of Thomas and Garthery Martyn(e). :-\

On Cornwall OPC St Columb Minor  there is a burial for

Margaret Martyn 8 Apr 1722 daughter of Richard

Have you tried tracing each of the Margaret's in the parish records to see if there are other marriages / burials, family search has the parish registers on line https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11127-33566-71?cc=1769414&wc=MMVH-VXN:n1299896240#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysearch.org%2Frecords%2Fwaypoint%2FMMVH-NGN%3A602043506%3Fcc%3D1769414

Thanks for that, I should have noticed.  Just to complicate matters, the will of John Sampson senior, dated July 1729, appoints "John Martyn, brother in law of my son" (John Sampson jnr) as a Trustee over his grandchildren.  This appears to suggest that Margaret had a brother named John.
The only parents of both a Margaret and John seem to be Richard and Jane.  I think I'm missing something here.

A good starting point I think to follow Richard and Jane's family although it does look like a possibility now that these may be Margaret's parents. Do Richard and Jane appear as names of any children born to Margaret & John, or even further down the line?
