Hullo marylin and welcome to rootschat :)

The death registrations may be on freebmd.org.uk     certainly worth searching.

Also the 1841/51 census should have them there as a family, assuming the parents were still alive then.

I'm sorry I don't have access to data bases to look them up , but someone else on rc. will help, I'm sure.

charlotte

You should find loads of information if you do a google search! For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Weir

Harrison William Weir was an artist and "The Father of the Cat Fancy"!

1841 census:
Reference HO107, Piece 1052, Book/Folio 2/33, Pa20

Weir, Harrison  M  15  Artist                      all born out of county

Please remember that adult ages, on the 1841, were rounded down to a multiple of 5 years!

I am having trouble finding John or Elizabeth in 1851!

But I found this possibility in 1861:
Reference RG09, 567, 90, 30
Bambell Villa, Eastbourne, Sussex

Auckland, John T  Head  M  56  Solicitor and Attorney  b Doncaster, Yorkshire
Auckland, Mary  Wife  F  61  b Chailey, Sussex
Weir, Elizabeth  Sister-in-Law  Widow  F  66  b Chailey
+ 2 servants

The name is right, the age is right, and birthplace is a probability! ;D
If this is correct, then John will have died between 1851 and 1861

Marriage:
24th May 1821
All Saints, Lewes, Sussex
John Weir to Elizabeth Jenner
(no other details!)
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Hi Marilyn

There is a website dedicated to Harrison Weir at www.harrisonweir.com

I wrote an article about him a few years ago and found out that he lived close to where I live now in Camberwell, but I had not realised that he married in the church next door to me.

Are you a descendant?
