In case anyone's interested the following is an Email I received today from the Essex Records Office.

Join us at Hylands House on Sunday 14 September to find out how the First World War left its mark on Essex as part of Heritage Open Days weekend.
 
   Find out about the stories of Essex people and places during the War from the archives of the Essex Record Office

   Launch of the Now the Last Poppy has Fallen exhibition at 12.45pm – followed by performances from Essex poet Luke Wright and singer/songwriter Georgia Strand, both of whom have composed original material for the project

   Find out about Hylands House’s history as a military hospital for wounded soldiers

   Seek advice on researching your First World War ancestors

   Find out how men were recruited for the army with professional live interpreters

   First World War re-enactors

   Short talks from experts on a range of aspects of life in Essex during the War, including women in the workplace and wartime hospitals in Essex

   Find out about working horses during the First World War with Hawthorne Heavy Horses

   Children’s activities

   Performances from the Essex Yeomanry band

   Light refreshments available; Huttons courtyard café will be open as usual; or feel free to bring a picnic!
