Help! Marraige records Guernsey
« on: Sunday 29 November 09 01:19 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me if I can view Guernsey marraige records on ancestry?
If not is there a database where I can view.
I am looking for a marraige between Israel Richardson aka Willam Jones b.1852
to Alice Betsy Le Page b. 1873.
Marraige would have taken place between 1891 and 1901
Any help greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Alyson

No, they can't be viewed on Ancestry. The best you can get is to go to the Piraulx Library, Guernsey,  website, get their contact email, but there is a charge for any lookups.

Hi Fern68,

I notice one of your interests is the surname Ruse in Guernsey. My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah Northcot Ruse, born in Devon, but lived, married and died in Guernsey.

How are you related to the Ruse family in Guernsey ?

Regards, Drew in Melbourne

Hi Drew in Melbourne. My g/g/grandmother Jane Elizabeth Ruse born in St.Germans Cornwall, parents were Richard and Ann. They moved to Guernsey early in the piece. Jane married Robert McCoomb, Ireland, gunner in the Royal Navy. It goes on from there.

Hi Kev,
Sorry I have not replied sooner, I have been away without the luxury
of a computer to hand.
Israel is an ancester of mine and I was trying to establish here, if he
ever married Alice Le Page, as you possibly know there is quite alot
of scandal attatched to their story.
Regards
Alyson

My great great grandfather was Israel Richardson who married Alice Betsy La Page. I have attached a screenshot of some of the family tree if this is of any use.
