Dear avm228

On the baptisms of Charles, Robert and Samuel, which was a block baptism on 17Dec 1874, only the mother's name Mary Ann Godden is given, which is a bit suspicious. Keturah was bp May 6, 1875, and again only mother's name given.

I'm still looking for the other children's bps.  Mary doesn't describe herself as a widow until 1901 census, but I don't know her status in 1891, as I can find very few of the family then.

William, eldest son, married in 1891, and gave father as Thomas, a labourer.  Samuel married in 1896, and gave father as Thomas Godwin, labourer.  Robert married in 1898, and gave Thomas Godwin, a baker, DECEASED.  Alice Maud married in 1900, and gave "THE LATE THOMAS, A BAKER"  Still working on the other children's marriages.

There's something very strange about all of this.  i can't put my finger on it.

Thank you for your interest.

Hi!
I too am searching for any relevant information on the mysterious Thomas Godwin as I am one of his descendants. So far I have managed to piece together part of his story, but it is all rather confusing and here again I've read things I did know nothing about. It is fascinating though and I too would be grateful for any small piece of information which could complete the puzzle.
