Help reading Death Certificate
« on: Wednesday 20 August 14 21:46 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me figure out what it says on William Lucks death certificate. I'm struggling to read most of the writing in the copy.

Any help would be great

Thanks

He was a market gardener and his father was master of the hunt. Motherīs maiden surname may be Adam or Allan, but is not very clear.

Hi,

It is a little indistinct but here is what I can read:

1st box

William Wemyss Luck
Market Gardener
(I can't make out what is in the rest of this box.

2nd box

1908, March 16th, 0h 15m AM (possibly meaning that he died at a quarter past midnight)
? (can't make out this word), Portland Place, Lanark

3rd box
M (Male)

4th box
88 years

5th box (Parents names & details)
Thomas Luck, Master of Hunt (Deceased)
Margaret Luck, MS (Maiden Surname) Adam? Allan? (Deceased)

6th box
As youngtug detailed above, with which I agree.

7th box name & details of informant.
Margaret G? Steel, Granddaughter, Present, 11 Portland Place, Lanark

8th box where & when registered
16th March 1908, Lanark. I cannot make out the two names clearly, something Gray & somebody else I think.

Hope this helps.

Kinds regards

David

The next line after market gardener may be (retired). Not 100% certain about that though.

Yes, I agree with retired.  Following lines appear to be Married to 1. Margaret Shaw. 2. Julia Pike.

Near as I can get  :)
