I appreciate this is some time later but I am tying up loose ends on Mary Ann Rock. Everything people came up with in this thread was correct and proved. The only thing outstanding is where was Mary Ann Rock, daughter Margaret and son Michael in 1891. Any ideas anyone.

Hello again,
In your first post you say you have Mary Ann Rock and her children in 1891 and 1901   ::)

Hi Heywood,

It was my mistake I meant in 1881 and 1901. I can find no trace of her in the 1891 census. I tried putting in all the names but no luck. There is a Mary A Rock comes up with children John and Margaret but also a Thomas and the birth details do not tally. I think this one was married to an Owen Rock of Widnes.

Heywood,

Can you think of a reason why neither she or her children can be found in the 1891 census?

Not yet  :)

I have searched by names and the addresses from 1881 and 1901 but nothing so far - sorry!

That's great, thanks for trying. It's just a bit weird not to be able to find them.

It might be that they were just omitted.
Not sure -but there could be missing pages.

One thing which has struck me, is that Michael is a few months old  in 1881 and there is a baptism supporting this birth.
However, in later censuses, he is born abt 1884  ??? but the girls ages fit.

I also noticed that about Michael's age but there are several more in this family tree where they do not seem to know how old they are.
I think I will just have to put the 1891 census for this family to one side and forget about it.

Thanks again
