Did he have any other names apart from Alexander ?

The reason I ask is there is an Ishmael dying in 1842 in the right area and I do not see him in 1841 census

The other alternative is that his death wasn't registered and so you would have to look in burial records (I have one in 1861 where this happened)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

This looks like him (so the 1842 death of Ishmael may be him)

First name(s): Alexander

Last name: GIFFORD

Date of burial 4 Sep 1842

Age at death: 90

Calculated year of birth: 1752

Place of burial Bury cum Hepmangrove

Dedication: Holy Cross

County: Huntingdonshire

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
