James Bullard born 1713 Godmanchester help.
« on: Wednesday 18 December 13 16:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have traced my wifes paternal family back to James Bullard born 1713 in Godmanchester.

From what I can gather he had a son called James (b.1733) with a so far unknown woman.

I have found James Bullard's (b.1713) second wife Ann Gaille who he married on 2 August 1733 in Godmanchester.

Please could anyone help put a name to the first wife with whom he had the one child, James with, as this is the line of my wife's family.

Thanks

When in 1733 was the child born, and when christened?
Presumably the chr record only has his father's name, without a mothers ( arent those ones annoying!)
But how on earth do you know that the fathers year of birth was 1713?

Was he a widower when he married in 1733?

Were there any other children christened before 1733 from his first marriage, maybe one will name the mother.

Best to search neighbouring parishes for the first marrage, as traditionally would be in the brides parish, even if they then settled where the groom was working.

There are no Bullards at all in Hunts Marriage Index 1701-54. The marriage to Ann Gaile is shown in the index as Fullerd. It's also shown as Fullerd on the BVRI and Fulberd on the IGI (extracted). So none of the transcriptions think it's Bul...d. There are other Fullard marriages but no James.

One Ancestry tree show James junior's birth as being 30 Dec 1733. It probably should be a baptism rather than a birth, but as it and other trees show the marriage as being in Ampthill, Beds, I don't have much confidence in it. But if it is right then James was the daughter of Ann (Gaile). What date do you have for his baptism and what was the source?
