So, I went to the Heritage Centre and they have 3 copies of Burke's Peerage, but Ramsay MacDonald is not listed as he refused to be honoured of course. I spoke to my namesake who runs the place and he said that they only managed to trace back as far as Ramsay's Grandparents a few years ago, "with any confidence". Well, I feel confident as far back as his Gt Grandparents, but, of course there are always going to be doubts.

Yes, my Gt Grandmother was a McAngus from Hilton of Cadboll, near Fearn. My Mam grew up in Tain and my Grandad still lives there. I would hazard that I probably have many relatives all over present day Ross-shire. The McAnguses though have branches established in Hawaii and Texas from the late 19th Century. Our lot never got far in comparison.

Snap, a g'grannie, Mackenzie from Fearn. There's a book about the Seaboard Villages, "Down to the Sea", should be available online?  also, http://www.fearnpeninsula.org.uk
The Hilton MacAngus's were known as the Canisheek I think.

Bests,

Skoosh.
