« on: Wednesday 03 August 11 04:51 BST (UK) »
Looking for Amon Family/History. Sam was Born in about 1843 in Kent and died in New Zealand 1934. He had a daughter Nellie (told she was born 1872 but suspect 1875) who married Fredrick William Nickel.

OK I have been looking at the NZ BDM's and the English cenuses. From NZ Bdm's I see there is a Samuel Amon, wife Martha parents of Amon children. There is a marriage in UK for a Samuel Amon on same page FreeBMD Martha Jane Revell Dec 1/4 1871 Ashford Kent.
I started looking for a Samuel born Kent and this is the only one born in the correct time frame I could find and  have followed through from 1851

1871 census RG10/961/11/14
Brabourne Kent
Brabourne Lees
John Amon 66 ag lab born Smeeth kent
Jane 60 Lymynge
Samuel 23 ag lab Smeeth Kent
Jane granddaughter 2 Burmarsh Kent.
In the disability column next to Samuels name - scurvy since birth

Birth FreeBMD

Nellie Amon E. Ashford Kent June 1/4 vol 2a page 687.

So should we be looking for Samuel and martha's arrival in NZ between 1875 ad 1881 as I can't see them in UK 1881.

1841 HO107/478 book 18 folio? page 1
Newchurch kent
Gassons and sons? Farm
John 35 ag lab
Catherine 25
John 15
Henry 10
James 4
George 1
All born in county.

Is Catherine the same wife as Jane in the 1851. I looked for a death for Catherine but couldn't see one.

John 15 isn't John and Catherine's son, so a brother?

All of this depends on the death cert for Samuel and marriage cert for Samuel and Martha
matching with this info. :)

Talk about slow on the uptake. Only after findig all the info did I think to look on ancestry.com and there are 4 public member trees which confirm all that I have found.
John's wife was Jane Hood but then things get a bit messy with one tree having him married to someone else before 1871 when he is still with his parents and single on the 1871 census.

Sorry I am even slower on the uptake looked at Cemetry register in South Taranaki, found Amon  Samuel  Patea Burial Old Lawn  died 03/09/1935  age  90  which puts his birth around 1845, dont know how accurate the info was I was originally given only hand written on paper but seems very close to who I'm looking for also found, Amon  Martha Jane  Patea Burial Old Lawn  Died 03/04/1929 age  80 and I'm sure that Patea is where the family eventually settled. Childrens birth years seem to be out though.Frederick lines up died 20/03/1940 aged  48.Thanks for your persistence crisane very much appreciated.

Samuel married Jane RALPH on 10 Feb 1867 in Hythe,Kent,England. (Jane RALPH was born in Jun 1847 in Hythe,Kent,England and died on 13 Dec 1867 in Burmarsh,Kent,England.) The cause of her death was Childbirth complications?. They had a Daughter Harriet Jane unknown if she survived. Also found Amon family dating back to 1654.
