The death announcement for Anna Thorn nee Engelhardt mentions a son Frank. Searching the VIC BDM index suggests he was born in 1908.

Confirmed by these birth announcements http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/10185054 and http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/144513584

Hello All,

You may be aware that "Ancestry" currently have free access to their Australian records this weekend and as a result I have been able to establish that Louisa Thorn married Benvenuto Vincent Rossi in 1892 had a child Julius Vincent Rossi (born 1893) and died in Coburg, Victoria, Australia on 3 Jan 1910 age 38.

Thank you again for your help - gradually the questions are being answered.

Hello All,

An update on the "marriage" of Robert Henry Thorn in 1904.

I posted on the Australian board to find out more and it turns out that this Robert Henry was from Hamburg and not connected to my Thorn family. From this point of view it is back to the drawing board.

Alan

Hi Al,
Just discovered this thread and wondered if you made any progress in learning of the fates of Robert Thomas and Robert Henry Thorn?
My interest comes through Caroline Cassidy who was a sister of my grandfather.
I know Caroline died at Collingwood ( an inner suburb of Melbourne, Vic, in 1887) but I have not been able to find any record of her husband and son in Victorian records of Births, Deaths and Marriages. I wonder if Robert Sr returned to England with his son?

Hi,

Unfortunately nothing new on either Robert Thomas Thorn or the son Robert Henry Thorn either in Australia or England.

I guess it will remain a mystery.
