Edward Jones, Shropshire, 1851 & 1861

Edward Jones from Newport, Shropshire, married Jane Moses in Wombridge on 27th March 1845.
They must then have lived in Church Aston as this is where their two sons were born,
Edward on 15th January 1846 and Joel on 26th September 1849.
Edward (senior) died on 8th March 1858 and was buried at Church Aston.
All this has been verified from the relevant certificates.

The problem is I can’t find them on the 1851 census nor the rest of the family, less Edward (sen), on the 1861.

Could someone have a look in case I’ve missed something.

Do you know when Jane their mother died?  If she died before 1851 maybe they were scattered about

I have found Jane in the Newport workhouse in 1871, 1881 and 1891; she died 31st December 1894, aged 88.

Have you got the boys later on to know they survived to adulthood?

If Edward (senior) was buried in March 1848, he could not have been the fàther of Joel born Sept 1849 . . . . .

Sorry ignore that .. dad died 1858, not 1848. Silly me.

1871 & 1881 Lilleshall, Shropshire; 1891 Donnington, Shropshire (a couple of miles from Lilleshall).

Have you got the boys later on to know they survived to adulthood?

I have Edward married 26th December 1869 and with his family in 1871 and 1881. No sign of Joel and no record that he died in childhood, in fact no later record of him at all.

In 1851 there is a Jane Jones listed as born 1806, married and working at the Swan Inn, Waters Upton, Wellington, Shropshire, but no children or husband?

Thanks so Edward junior and Jane for certain must have been about somewhere in 1851/1861. 
If Jane was born c1806 she had children late unless she had been married before.

Joel unusual name should be easier to spot unless he went by something else 

Wonder if the boys were with grandparents?  Jane was Moses so Joel Moses should be easy to spot.
