Complete! BURCHELL boys living with GUEST grandparents in Dudley 1900
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 14:43 BST (UK) »
Greetings Rootschatters,

Albert (c1880) and William Burchell (c1881) are on both the 1891 and 1901 census returns as living at 57 Hall St. Dudley with their grandparents William and Mary Ann Guest. I am trying to identify the boys' parents but with little luck.

I have found the grandparents on the 1861 and 1871 census but each one of these returns only ever show one son, William born Dec 1860.

I had assumed that the Guests had a daughter who married a Burchell but cannot find any record that fits.

Your assistance will, as always, be very much appreciated.
Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.

Gideon (son of another Gideon) married Sarah Guest. they lived into the 1900s and had more children but these boys never seemed to go back home. It could just be coincidence that they were at their grandparents at the time of the census and later enabled large families to share space and support their elders?

Two of Gideon's sisters married in Hulme, Manchester so perhaps Gideon senior moved there?

Solved! The boys lived a few doors along from their parents.
