Probate lookup of Familysearch record
« on: Tuesday 05 November 13 02:57 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone who has access to the following Familysearch record:

Name: James Keating
 Event Type: Probate
 Event Date: 1824
 Event Place: Limerick, Ireland
 Document Number: 021
 Volume Number: 012
 Volume Date Range: Nov-Dec 1851
 Property Name:
 Parish:
 Electoral Division:
 Barony:
 County: Limerick
Alternate Event Place: Knockananig Mountain And Bog

When I click on image it tells me it is only available in using the site at a FamilySearch Center and to signed-in members of supporting organizations.

I'm pretty sure this is my 4 great grandfather - the alternate event place being a mistranscription of Knocknagranshy.

Any help gratefully received :-)

It's not actually a probate record. It's a lease on land that is being sold by the Incumbered/ Landed Estate Courts - basically the owner is bankrupt and they are selling his land to meet his debts. The lease on"Knockananig Mountain And Bog" (32 acres) to James Keating is in Cork so I don't think it is a mistranscription
The whole sale is related to the lands surrounding and including Castle Hyde, now the home of River dancer Michael Flatley   :D

Hasta,

Many thanks for the info - they sound like interesting records.

I knew I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions - just wishful thinking on my part. None of my Keatings were in Cork  :-(
