Hi Helen,
From the Sussex Marriage Index, here is the marriage of Thomas & Lucy by licence. First the licence then the actual marriage 3 days later.

Archdeaconry of Lewes Marriage Licence,   29 Dec 1834:
Thomas WILLSHER, Ticehurst
Lucy NOAKES, Mayfield
Extra Information: SRS 26 (Mayfield Church)

Mayfield, East Sussex,    1 Jan 1835:
 Thomas WILLSHER, Ticehurst (lic)
 Lucy NOAKES, otp.

Checking the LDS IG Index, children attributed to a Thomas & Lucy WILLSHER,

John Noakes WILTSHIRE, cr. 15/11/1835, Ticehurst.  I think that's your man!

There are two more entries but I don't think they are yours as they seem a bit late,

Robert Willsher cr. 6/6/1850, Etchingham, Sussex
Isabel Willsher cr. 26/8/1854, Etchingham.

If someone can do a look-up for 1841 in Ticehurst you'll probably find a few more children,

Jane

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hi Jane

Many thanks for the information. :D

All the children I think belong to Thomas and Lucy Willsher.

To confirm it I need to see the 1841 /1851 census. In 1841 I think they are in Ticehurst and in 1851 in Salehurst. Thomas is a widower in 1881 census.

I have not yet traced this family any further but we now do so.

Once again

Many thanks
Helen

Hi Chris

Many thanks for the information that you sent so fast.
I now have children that I did not have before.

Just to clarify on the 1861 census that Thomas age 19 is the son of Lucy and Thomas (senior) Willsher.

I was expecting to see a daughter Isabel born about 1854. I will have to recheck my notes.

Thank you very much for all the help.
Helen

Yes, sorry, I missed that bit out - he is described as Son.

I was expecting to see a daughter Isabel born about 1854. I will have to recheck my notes.

Went back and had another look - NO, she is not at home, but I found her here; It looks as though she is getting some private education?

RG9/ 564/ Folio 64/ Page 13 - Vine Hall, Whatlington, Sussex

Eliza Simes, 38, born East Peckham, Kent, Head
Sarah Simes, 8, born Whatlington, Sussex, Daughter
Mary Simes, 7, born Whatlington, Sussex, Daughter
Bertha Simes, 5, born Whatlington, Sussex, Daughter
Anna M Kennett, 22, born Rye, Sussex, Private Governess
Isabel Willsher, 6, born Burwash, Sussex, Pupil
Lucy Jempson, 12, born Whatlington, Sussex, Servant.

Hope that helps to sort things out

Hi Chris

Once again many thanks.

I know that Thomas Willsher is at Hayes farm in 1881 census with Robert and Isabel.

Is it possible to check if any of the family are still there on the 1891 census?

Thank you very much for your help and I now can try to piece together this family branch.

A grateful and big thanks
from Helen
