Hallo Dolly,

Have been searching the web for possible sites for you to ask about a death cert .  and have found the following:  Hope they are of some help:

1.  death certificate is "overlijdensakte" in Dutch.

2. The following website is that of Antwerp City (in Dutch I am afraid and no                 English site) but they probably can speak/read English so it might be worth a try.

    www.antwerpen.be/eCache/BTH/15/135.cmVjPTY1MjE.html

3. Not sure what you can get off this site, but they maybe able to push ayou in the right direction.

Hello Viv,

Many thanks for those web links - will see how I get on with them.
Just for the record,am looking for the death in Antwerp of Thomas Jackson, born Ireland 3rd August 1838,died 17th Jan 1874,he was a Master Mariner,I assume he died while in Port with his ship (no idea of which ship).

Many thanks for your help.

Dolly.

Hi Dolly,

I think this is going to be a hard one - not knowing what ship he was on.  Do you have him in any of the censuses?

Hello Viv ,

Thanks for the reply.
I have a poss Thomas Jackson born Dingle Ireland on 1861 census lodging in Toxteth Liverpool with his wife Harriet(born Ireland) 2 children Thomas & Susannah both born Liverpool.

Its a odd way I came across Thomas Jackson Jr,I did have a rootschat thread in March 2008 "This is a Mystery" on the common room board -to keep it brief,I came across on line OXFORD JOURNALS from the late 1920's/early 1930's,approx 6 letters written to the Journal from a Andrew Arrick requesting info on the Jackson family (the same family that I started researching in the late 1980's !),in one of the letters he mentions another son born 1838 also named Thomas Jackson who died in Antwerp 1874.

It looks like I may have to do some searching at Kew for his Merchants ticket etc to enable me to get further on with him.

Cheers
Dolly.

Hi Dolly,

I have just had a nose around the 1871 census and found a Thomas Jackson/Harriet Jackson boarding in Liverpool, but without children and the birth date of Thomas is 10 years out (might just be wrongly read).  I cannot get at the original census page (FindMyPast doesn't load it up), but here is the ref.

RG10, 3759, 68, 67
Horny Street, Liverpool

They are boarding with a family - the transcriber couldn't read the surname, and there is also a family Stringer boarding too.

Might be worth  a look.
