Hello Judi,

This marriage is from my notes from back in 2008.

NOTTINGHAM – St Mary (fiche 211)
19th October 1855 - by banns
WILLIAM ADLINGTON, full age, bachelor, Cordwainer, residence Narrow Marsh.
Father = Richard Adlington, cordwainer.
SARAH PORTER, ? age, spinster, residence Narrow Marsh
Father = Thomas Porter, cordwainer.
Both signed
In the presence of; William Porter & Ann Porter

(my note; is he the son of Richard Adlington & Ann Cooling born Southwell 1834? – Richard was a cordwainer, I haven’t found William on any census after 1851 – just a thought, did he emigrate like his brother Robert??)

I have Adlington's in my tree but this is not our direct line.

I hope it is of some help.

Kind regards, Sheila... :)

Ah, so the William in Canada in 1861 is a cordwainer? That is very promising.

In 1841 Thomas Porter was in Nottingham with likely wife Sarah and children of whom the youngest was 1 yr old Sarah.

By 1851 he had remarried to a Hannah.
