Hi Gerry,
Thank you again.  I love how you and Sue are helping me with my dad's side of the family now.
I really do appreciate how helpful you both are. I can't wait to find out more.
Thank you for your time.  You're wonderful.
Sincerely
Leisa

Leisa,

I see in the Brisbane Courier 5th Feb 1872 under Land Selection Frederick Schmeider secured a 100 acre Pastoral Homestead Selection at Forbes (probably Parish).  Looks like he may have had more than one lease.

It looks like that he was a Publican at some early stage so the Qld Gazette's would probably have licence details with dates etc.

Gerry

It's a great lead too knowing that his opposing neighbour was Flynn.

It was GLYNN ;D
In case it makes any difference in the long run ;)

Thank you Gerry, Sue and Merlin,
This is awesome.  Gerry, you are so wonderful going to the State Library for me and thank you Merlin for the awesome map of Warwick Rd Ipswich.  Thanks Sue for clearing up my mistake too for Glynn.  Together you are fantastic.  Again, I can't thank you all (everyone) that is helping me.
Leisa  :)

Just another little snippet

An early 1877 Qld Gazette has Elizabeth Schmeider applying for a licence to erect 2 swing gates on the government road dividing portions No 220 & 228 in the Parish of Flinders.  Maybe they portions are maked on early maps of Ipswich.

I have seen a copy of the Register of Burials in the Ipswich Cemetery for February 1875 and while they are hand written and the copy is a bit difficult to read in places I can post a transcription on here if you need it.

Hi Leisa,

Couple of things.

Please PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy of the Lease application for Fridolin which he signed the application for on 19th November 1868.  This was for Portion 228 in the Parish of Flinders County of Churchill.

The Qld State Archives also had an 1884 Parish Map of Flinders and Fridolin's 92 Acre block, Portion 228 is clearly marked with his name, I got an A3 copy of the map which would look very nicely framed.   Somehow I need to post this to you as well.

Peak Crossing is about 21 km south of Ipswich towards Warwick and and this is where Portion 228 is located.  Interesting Thomas Glinn has a property nearby (Portion 12).

That is amazing searching, Gerry.

You have helped me before with Qld Archive searches which required visits to the library.    I'm sure my feelings of gratitude for that wiil be shared this time too ;D
