Matilda Grainge Lookup born c1847 (Father Daniel Grainge)
« on: Wednesday 15 March 06 11:21 GMT (UK) »
I'm having great trouble trying to locate Matilda Grainge born c1847. All i know about her is that she married in 1870 in St Pancras, London, and that her Father is Daniel Grainge who at the time of her marriage had the occupation of Sawyer. Her age is not on the marriage certificate. It is written as full age.

If anyone could track her down it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Phil,

I can't spot her right away. Have you been able to find her on later census returns to check her age and birthplace?

Hello, Phil,

I, too, cannot find anything for Matilda or Daniel Grainge pre 1871  but did find her in the 1871 census

1871 census
RG10/206  folio  31  page  57
4, Fitzroy Place,  St, Pancras.

James Spackman   age  25   Plasterer
Matilda   wife age 23
James   son   age 1      all born  London

Hope this helps,

Meliora

1871:

RG 10/230 folio 23 page 39
7 Union Terrace, St. Pancras
Daniel Grange, head, 65 (pos 55), sawyer, b. Herts
Louisa,wife, 65 (pos 55), b. Stepney Middlesex
next family but at same address
George Grange, head, 22, Wood Sawyer b. Paddington
Sarah, wife, 23, b. Paddington
Louisa, dau, 2, b. Camden Town
Susannah, dau, 2, b. Camden Town

Also George Henry Grainge m. dec 1867 quarter St. Pancras possibly to Sarah Pragnall.

I think they might be listed in Pancras in 1861 as 'Graing'.  I can't get the full info/image but the children are George and 'Mary A' - on image might be Matilda, considering misspelling of surname?

thankyou so much. This looks like the mystery has been solved. Can anyone help with the 1861 census on these details.
