Kilchuimen Burial Ground
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 06:11 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Does anyone know if there are records for burials at Kilchuimen? I have the list of headstone inscriptions but when I looked at my ancestors grave there is another headstone right behind it, almost touching it. Could there be any records kept by grave diggers back as far as 1850's that would help pinpoint where other family members are buried, as there are no other headstones. I know they are there from death certificates.

Thank you for looking at this post.

Hi

You are probably looking for lair records which record who owned a burial plot and who was buried there, whether or not there was a gravestone. I think it will be Highland Council Cemeteries section who hold the records. There is a number for the Service Centre on this page and you would then have to ask for Cemeterieshttp://www.highland.gov.uk/info/640/birth_marriage_and_death/322/funerals_graves_and_cremations  .

Failing that, Highland Archives are your best contact.
