Norfolk parish records

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but which websites are best for exploring Norfolk, particularly Norwich, parish records? Many thanks

familysearch have the actual parish records - they are not indexed but you do get to see the original and they're free!

Familysearch PRs are probably the best, but you might like to take a look at FreeREG and
http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/

I believe there were a lot of non-conformists in Norfolk, so maybe something to look into if you have missing people.  :)

FreeReg have transcribed a great number of Norfolk parish records. I've found it my most useful resource. http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl
You can check the list of parishes to see if the ones you want are there.
They have a Soundex facility so if the surname spelling varies it will give you the various permutations and you can search up to +/- 10 years.
One warning -the search will only find forenames exactly as they are written on the record -so if your John is on the record as Jno or Jon, you won't find him. If you don't find your record it's worth trying again with the forename space blank.
Cooper- Berks, Herts, Wrexham,Birmingham
Garrett- London, Berks
Morton-Berkshire
Harvey- Essex
Hambling, Royal,Dale,Jackson, Tann, Boatwright Edridge/Etheridge/Uttridge -all Norfolk
Osborne-Norfolk and Northumberland/Durham

I'd forgotten about the doun site - back in the dim and distant I used it extensively as it was about the only free site for Norfolk.  Thanks for the reminder, Ruskie

I've also not come across the baptism project - off to look at that now  :D

Not such an obvious question, Charlotte - a useful one!

Glad to have helped (even if only a little) Christine. When I made the post I was on my ipad rather than my desktop where my favourites are stored, so had to rely on my (poor) memory for Norfolk records - of course I forgot about the Norfolk Baptism Project so glad The Yokel added that to the list.

Along with Durham/Northumberland I have found that Norfolk is one of the counties with the best resources available online.  :)

A bit off topic, but I also like this site:
http://www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/norfolkindex.htm

I haven't used this, but there may be something helpful here:

Thanks for your help everyone, I've got some good suggestions to investigate now. Does anyone know if any of the big sites are planning on including Norfolk parish records any time soon? Thanks again!
