Hi guys, great thread,

Tony Carroll was my grandfather.

I'd be really interested in seeing the picture of him in his Belfast celtic jersey.

Hi Anton, I will down load it and send it. can you supply an email address. More importantly if you are related to the Carrolls who stayed in King Street do you know where they came from in Ireland. My great grandfather Patrick had children Patrick, (grandfather) James, Edward, Michael, Ellen and Mary. They were all baptised in St Andrews Clyde Street and I was lucky enough to see the records there by the local priest. Are any of the aforementioned your relations. Joe

Brilliant,

I'm meeting with the family this weekend to remember the anniversary of my Gran Annie Carroll (james 'tony' carroll's wife) and ill ask my mum and her sisters about the links you've suggested but on hearing them they definitely sound familiar.

I'll let you know what I find out over the weekend.

Hi Moffat , welcome to Rootschat  :)

Were Patrick and Helen married in Scotland ?
If so the marriage certificate should give you parents names.
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ has Patrick Carroll / Ellen Holmes marriage 1884 Lanark.

Official records for Ireland began in 1864 , perhaps we can identify a birth for Anne  :-\
