I am searching for information on the above families and hope there is someone who can help me please.
The information I have gathered so far –
Marriages Tarbat (Ross and Cromarty) from SP
1a. John Ross from Nigg and 1b. Christian Urqhart /Christina Urquhart /Christian Urghart at Tarrel 9th Jan 1818. There is also mention of Tarbat By Fearn, Ross and Cromarty.
Both were deceased by 1869 according to one of their children’s (Angus) marriage records.
Children of the above I have found so far –
(there is a big gap between marriage in 1818 and “first” child in 1824 ?)
2a. Finlay Ross - b. 01 Jul 1824 at Tarbat By Fearn, Ross and Cromarty – died ?
2b. Janet Ross - b. 25 Jun 1827 at Newton, Midlothian, Scotland - died ?
2c. John Ross - b. 30 Mar 1830 at Newton, Midlothian, Scotland – d. 17 Feb 1875 in Glasgow of Bronchitis
2d. Angus Ross - b. 29 Apr 1834 at Edinburgh - died ?
When/why did the family move to Edinburgh?
Marriages of the above children –
Finlay Ross – no information.
John Ross (Blacksmith) married Agnes Goldie on 02 Jun 1853 in Glasgow.
John died in 17 Feb 1875 in Glasgow and Agnes died 04 Jan 1891 in Glasgow.
They had the following children, according to the 1861 Census of Inverness –
3a. William Ross b. Abt. 1851 in Glasgow
3b. Christina Ross b. 05 Sep 1854 in Glasgow – d. 28 Aug 1931 in Glasgow
She married John Cossar Plews on 11 Jun 1883 in Glasgow – one of my early relatives.
3c. David Ross b. Abt. 1857 in Glasgow
3d. George Ross b. Abt. 1859 in Inverness
When/why did the family move to Inverness and later back to Glasgow?
Angus Ross (Omnibus driver) marrried Jane B.or D. Proudfoot on 11 Nov 1869 in Edinburgh.
No information on any children or deaths.
I would really like to find some information on John Ross and Christina Urquhart and their families - their births, deaths, parents, siblings, occupations, etc.....anything!!
