Privetts Studios, Invergordon
« on: Monday 06 January 14 16:55 GMT (UK) »
I have a postcard that has Privetts Studios printed on the back and dating of the postcard seems to suggest 1918 at the earliest.  In order for me to more accurately date the postcard, can anyone tell me when Privetts Studios started up in business in Invergordon?  I have read that Ernest James Privett was a photographer in the town from the early 1920s to late 1940s, and I believe there are postcards in existence with E J Privett, Invergordon printed on the back.  Does anyone know if the terms "Privetts Studios" and "E J Privett, Invergordon" were used simultaneously or did one name pre-date the other?  It would be particularly helpful to ascertain when the business known as Privetts Studios came into being.

Thank you!
Foffie

Hi Foffie

If you scan front and back of postcard ( at 300dpi ) and post here on the photo board the experts on this board will probably give you an answer  they are that good.

Sorry but unable to find a copy of regatta program in Boat club archives;must have returned them to the late Miss Privett in 2001.however checked valuation roll for 1920 and Privett Photographic studios were in Ferry Road in premises belonging to coal merchant.
photo of Ferry Road in 1916 enclosed.
