Richard Griffiths Llaugharne Carmarthenshire Born about 1814
« on: Friday 19 July 13 09:03 BST (UK) »
Hi I am researching my paternal line and it seems I am stuck at Richard Griffiths
All I Have on him so far is that he was born in Llaugharne (Or around there) in about 1814
He either Married a Jane Davies from Narberth (Which I think is correct)
or Mary Jane Edwards from ?
One of their children was David Griffiths who was apparently born in Llandilofawr (1846) I am certain that he is my 3rd Great Grandfather and married Amanda Beatrice "......"
there were other children but i think many of them died as was the case back then...
So can anybody help me with this line?ANY information woulde be so very useful!
Thank you

Lewys could you give me any more hints - occupation for Richard would help? Any other names for the children? Lots of Richard Griffiths to plough through  :)

How certain are you that David's father is Richard Griffiths?

In all the censuses David gives his place of birth as "Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire", and is a mariner in several.

I have found a David Griffith baptised in Llangynnor, Carmarthen on 5 May 1844 (born 5 April 1844), son of Benjamin and Charlotte Griffith, boatman. In the 1851 census for St Peters, Carmarthen the family is living in The Quay, St Peters. David listed as "born Carmarthen". HO107;Piece2473;Folio162;Page13.

I think this is very likely to be your David Griffiths.

Benjamin Griffith, Llangain married Charlotte Jones, Llangunnock(Llangynog) on 8 November 1829 at Llangain.
