Hi Pinkfairy,
found this on Ancestry attached to a tree..
George Rosendale was convicted at Cambridge, for larceny, on the 15th January, 1819 and was sentenced to deportation to Van Diemans Land for a term of 7 years.  At the time of leaving England he was already married to Charlotte Newman, of which marriage 6 children already existed.  On his arrival in 1820 [10 January 1820] in the colony of Tasmania he immediately married Eleanor Carr also a convict, who had been sentenced to 14 years deportation for receiving stolen goods.  The marriage produced 6  children.  George was deported out on the ship "Dromedary", the Captain was a Richard Skinner R.N.  It sailed out on the 11th September 1819, on arrival 347 men landed on the Derwent River (at this very spot in Hobart there is now a town named after the "Dromedary")  22 men landed at Sydney Cove in Dromedary.
On the first families2001.net.au website, George's occupations were listed as: Convict/Labourer/Innkeeper..

If you go to Tas Archives online you will find his convict records digitised as well as church registers.

You will also find conduct records for his sons George and Robert who stole three turkeys in 1848 and were "to be imprisoned and kept at hard labour in HM Gaol, Hobart, for two calendar months"

http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names

Just put ROSENDALE in the search box and it should return variations as well.
