OK, so Scotlandspeople confirms the son was born in 1907 in Angus (I haven't pinpointed the exact town, but not Arbroath and not St Vigeans).

Thanks for that link.  I've now also located Robert Nicholson Marshall there as well and will continue looking.

Hi,

My wife's grandfather was one of the brothers of your Jane Jessie Marshall (ms Edwards).   One of my wife's aunts was named after her.   I have a photo of Jane Jessie plus lots of info about the Edwards part of that family.

How wonderful!

I'd love a photo of Jane, and I know our man in Scotland writing an e-book of the family history will appreciate it as well.

My great-grandfather was Jane's brother John (Jeck).  I have two photos of Jeck and one of their brother James with his family.

In order for us to be able to exchange private messages you will need to make two more posts first.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Another related thread here: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=653672.0

In the photo in that thread - the man in the train door is my grandfather.  The woman almost immediately below him is my grandmother Nora Edwards, daughter of Jeck Edwards.  My father is peeping over her shoulder.

I know the young woman in the headscarf, the two young women on either side of her are her sisters and the woman in the dark rimmed round glasses was her mother.  They are family friends and not Edwards.

However, some of the other people in the photo could be Edwards family members.  If any faces ring a bell for your wife I'd love to know about it.

Hi,

'Uncle Jeck' is a well known name by my wife's aunts recollections as is 'granny Quinn'.    I've a feeling I know who your 'man in Scotland writing an e-book of the family history' is!!
That's two replies now, one to go!!

OK, so he possibly has the photo already.  He didn't mention it, but perhaps he's saving it for the book.

I suspect your wife's grandfather would be William.
