It looks like the first wife Anny died.  There is a death for Annie Haskett, age 41, on 5 Nov. 1909 in Kings County.  George married Ellen McGrath in 1913, and that matches up with the information in the obituary.

Did Martin have any brothers who may have been in the US & passed away before he emigrated?  If so, maybe Christine was married to him and later remarried?

Unless Michael or James were in NY too. Maybe one of them could have married Christine, but unfortunately I don't have any information in either of them.
