Sheriff Hutton Haxby area.
« on: Saturday 27 April 13 16:07 BST (UK) »
I am in search of news paper artical during Oct-Nov 1976 of the tragic accident of a Ronald Hardy.
His residence at the time was Moor Farm Haxby (i think).
Can anyone offer some guidance as to where to look, i am down in Norfolk so find it hard to search in the Yorkshire area.I have been trying to find old maps of the area but have failed there as well..

Look on the old maps website.  Search for York and Haxby is to the north (for some reason searching on Haxby takes you somewhere else).  Moor Farm is shown to the north west of the village on the west of the B1363.

For the Newpaper

The Library Archives are moving building at the moment! so their service is poor (Read relavant info on web page as when they are  back to normal)

I would phone/email/write to York library and ask them where the mid/late 20 th century newpapers on micro film at kept, even the local newpapers may have their own archive.

Press the 'contact tab' at the top menu

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

The accident would have been reported in The Yorkshire Evening Press (now *The Press, York"). Their address is Walmgate, York and website at http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/
