Missing baptisms
« on: Saturday 31 May 14 19:25 BST (UK) »
The family lived in Tivetshall Norfolk until the 1881 census in the 1891 and 1901 lived in Gillingham Norfolk and then returned in the 1911 to Tivetshall Norfolk

Groom family 11 children can't find baptisms for 3 of them

Ellen was born first baptised in 1856 at Tivetshall St Margarets
Emma 3Q 1857
George William  b 1859 bap in 1863 Tivetshall St Margaret
Jane b 1862 baptised 1863 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Clara b 1865 baptised  1865 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Alice b 1867 baptised 1867 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
William George b 1869 baptised 1870 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Laura b 1871, baptised 1872 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Walter b 2Q 1875
Margaret Susannah b 1876 baptised 1876 Attleborough Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Ernest Edward b 3Q 1884

There is some 'connection' to Beccles as many of the children either went to work there or lived there after marriage and poor Laura even tried to commit suicide there, although I was convinced for a long time it was not 'my Laura' thanks to persistantly researching  rootschatters it clearly was.
Both parents Charles and Susan were born/baptised in Tivetshall Norfolk.

You are correct thanks trish

Just checked the 1881 he is on as Grandson, I did have  Walter down as Ellens child, but  also had a Walter for Charles and Susan, I either completely missed the 'grandson' or he is down as son in other census or I was just not being careful.
Elijah( Charles brother) and Sophia also had a Walter, although a little older.

Now I am wondering about the other two, Emma was already workingaway from home as a servant in 1871 and I don't have full access to the 1861 and then Ernest being born a long time after Margaret again I don't have full access to the 1891

I think it is likely Ernest is one of the Girls Sons also. Cant find anything on Emma.
If you give me some time, I'm making Dinner, i will type up the 1861/1891 Census if you want?

Trish :)

Yes I think that too, I can now understand why there was the large gap from Laura  but Ernest is 8 years after Margaret

Thanks for the census look up yes that would be good

Thanks Trish

So it looks like Emma is their child and Walter was taken on as theirs, Walters mum Ellen was in Beccles Suffolk as a servant, who as far as I can tell never married, so I wonder if Ernest is the same a grandson taken on as a son, Susan would have been 50ish, so possible, several of the older girls were servants, so it is also feasible one was his mother.
I have him living in Gillingham at home 16yrs a grocers assistant in 1901 and in 1911 25yr is Stowmarket, he married  Lucy Farrow in 1912
