IGI parish details query: St Arvans or Mitchel Troy, 1826
« on: Wednesday 26 December 12 15:53 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for an explanation for an oddity in IGI marriage details.  Under the old IGI search system a few years ago I found a marriage for William Reynolds and Elizabeth Frances Lewis in 1826, and this was stated to be at St Arvans, Monmouthshire.
On checking the new IGI system today for something else, I came across this same marriage which is now listed as having been at Mitchel Troy, 12 March 1826.
Can anyone offer a reason for what appears to be a change?
Ainslie

Was the original find from a submitted entry?  The Mitchel Troy entry is transcribed from the original parish record which can be viewed by buying credits on FindMyPast

Carole
Thank you for that.  The first was noted too long ago to remember, and not enough attention paid to the detail.  I will go with the second.  My FindMyPast sub does not include those records.

some of the indexing of the Welsh Archive Service Records on FindMyPast leaves something to be desired. The register itself shows the marriage to have been in St Arvans. It may be worth buying some credits so that you can see the scanned register. Bride was a minor and her father gave permission.
