Want to contact anyone researching GOODSON families, Grantham/Woolsthorpe areas

I am trying to sort out all the GOODSON's - there are so many, and so many with the same names and would just like to contact anyone else researching these names in these areas?

If you let us know which particular Goodson family you are researching and give names, dates, places of birth, census, etc, then someone might be able to help you. Presumably you are stuck somewhere along the line? If so, can you give details?

Or.....

Are you specifically just looking for others also researching Goodsons in Lincolnshire.

Have you checked the Surname Interests Table to see if there is anyone else researching the same family?

ell the last one I know pretty much is right is George GOODSON b Grantham abt 1740, who fist married Ann Wilson in Grantham in 1759, and then married Elizabeth Rowland in Grantham in 1761. George and Elizabeth had 2 children; William b 1764 and George b 1766 - then George Snr died in 1766 in Grantham (I think he was my 4 x Great Grandfather) At the moment I am running with George GOODSON b Grantham 1711 as 5 x Great Grandfather (and he married Elizabeth Wilkinson b abt 1716, in Grantham in 1741 - so perhaps he's not the next George's father, but I can't find a previous marriage for her.
Oh for a better variety of Christian names!!

I have similiar issues with family in the area around Knipton, Woolsthorpe and Grantham, just two or three forenames in the male line and a couple on the female lines, interestingly the surname in this case is Goulson and dates are 1700's through to the mid 1800's.

 Not connected with Goodson family but have checked in Grantham library and had a look on the St Wulframs parish records on microfilm and found this info if you do not have it.

George Goodson (aged 40) died July 5th 1766 no other info.

Both signed.Witnesses John Wilkins & John Scarborough.

George Goodson (21) wed Elizabeth Rowland (24)  George (Grantham) Elizabeth (Boothby) 9 Oct 1761.

Glen sometimes same names help specially when they're unusual but in this case the George's are just so frustrating

Doesnt look to me that those 2 Marriages are the same George.

The 1st one is full age in 1759.
The second 21 in 1761, so born c 1740
The George Buried 1766 is age 40, so born c 1726. He may be the George who married 1759.

The George who married Elizabeth Rowland is described as a Gentleman on the marriage on FreeREG

I am a bit confused here as I can find these 2 Baptisms 1764/1766, St Wulfrum, Grantham;
WM Goodson, 16 Feb 1764
GEO Goodson, 07 July 1766
+ ANN, 22 Nov 1761
But these have Parents as GEO/MARY or GEORGE/ MARY

Hi,

There is a George Goodson married to a Mary Charles in Stroxton(a village 3 miles out of Grantham) on 22/Sep/1742 who had children Ann,William & George can be seen on Family Search site. which ties in with the info Trish found.
