Alexander Patty
« on: Tuesday 18 February 14 00:50 GMT (UK) »
I have found that Alexander Patty lived and died on the Isle of Man.  He was a miner and died on 17 November 1858, in Kirk Patrick.  He was married to Elizabeth and had several children.  What I cannot determine is whether he was born on the Isle or immigrated.  I have a birth date of 1816, no month or day.  I'm trying to find out his parents names.

I have asked the moderators to move this thread to an Isle Of Man board

There are some IoM experts who may be able to shed some light on Alexander?!

Wow, you guys are fast!  Since he came from Ireland, would there be immigration or ship passenger records I could look for to narrow down where in Ireland he came from?

Ireland was part of the United Kingdom until 1922.

There are no shipping passenger records for travel within the UK! ;D
Immigration is the wrong term as well.
If I move house from Somerset to London, I don't have to emmigrate/immigrate, do I? ;D ;D

Looking at the 1901 census, nearly everyone with the surname Patty is in County Down - Holywood, Belfast.
