Can anyone advise at  what age someone was able to take over or hold a property lease c1810? area of  Newtown limavady.

Probably 21 which was the age at which you became an adult.

I've come across several instances where a lease has come up for renewal when the leaseholder had died while his heir was still a minor. In these cases trustees renewed the lease "in trust for (minor child)". So you could be the beneficial owner of leasehold property even if you were not of full age.

Indeed I've seen one where father died and the eldest son, age 8, took over the lease...
