WWI medal roll note
« on: Friday 12 December 14 11:26 GMT (UK) »
Is anybody able to tell me what this handwritten note means alongside George Faulkner's medal listing for the War & Victory medal?

I have his service record for WWI and militia record pre-war but unable to tell what these notes mean related to the 1920s...

This is service record in case that is relevant: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=BritishArmyService&h=682497&ti=5538&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t28735129_p13941181212_kpidz0q3d13941181212z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgplz0q3dpid

Many thanks

N.B. in case it helps, an identical note seems to be against another George Faulkner in the medal roll records: http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/5119/41629_611411_5488-00083/4642605

This George is briefly mentioned in my George's record but I think as a mistake, there seems to be some confusion as to whether they are the same man, as they were in the same RE unit.

“Returned (under) 992 Kings Regulations
Certified Receipt Voucher 190B dated 3rd May 1924

8427/Adt – unknown internal reference
Issue Voucher R1/454 dated 18th July 1924
a/s RE/1109 – unknown internal reference”

KR 992 (of 1923)
992. Medals which, at the end of one year, still remain unclaimed, will be sent to the Secretary, The War Office."

So they were probably returned as the RE could not issue them. But the medal office did issue them a few months later. Medals were sent by registered post. So their movements were recorded, hence the CRVs and IVs.
