Thanks,goodness knows how they are described on Ancestry!Of course the object of the exercise was to see whether there were any more children born to Isaac and "Ellen" before 1861.Her name was indeed Ellen for in 1853 Isaaac Owens married an Ellen Hughes at Ruabon St Mary.She is also given in Census entries as Elinor.

Note that a basic search in 1861 of any Owens born 1831+-2 years living in Denbighshire did not pick up this entry on Ancestry.

PS are you sure he did not remarry to an Elizabeth c 1864?

No he didn't,I believe Isaac died sometime after 1873 after his last child Sarah Ellen was born.It is this Sarah Ellen who is the real focus of my search.She married a Thomas Simon in 1894.Ellen Owens shows as Widow in 1891 with among other Sarah Ellen living with her.Ellen was born in Bryneglwys Denbighshire.
