WW1 service record abbreviations
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 21:53 BST (UK) »
My grandfather was in the army M.G.C. (machine gun corps) till his transfer to the RFC & subsequently  the RAF.  He was not an airman. He was transferred to the reserve list (RAG - ?) in 1919. I am trying to decipher the abbreviations under the heading "Movements", all of which refer to the period just prior to his discharge on 30 July 1919.  Thanks for any help.

Think its 2 brigade RAF and then the 28/6/19 unit to which could be 106? Dis (dispersal) stn(station) from where he was demobbed.

The other 9 Blr Sect (section)

Ady
Lowe(Lower Gornall-Castleford)
Blackburn (Castleford)
Sidwell(Ledsham)
Fairburn(Hartshead)
Wood(Liversedge)
Tallon (Whittington Lancs/Hartshead West Yorkshire)

Researching all Great War soldiers from the Spen Valley of West Yorkshire Especially lads from the Cleckheaton Company of 1/4th West Riding Regiment.

Thanks Ady, that makes sense.  I thought it might be Brigade, as well.  Dispersal station also makes sense given his discharge dates. Any idea what the 'Blr' of '9 Blr Sect' might be?
