You are both lovely ladies, showering me with kindness. :-*
I would hate you to waste money.
I have been having a wonderful time on the site you sent me, Dorothy, thanks,
and Ysabeau, I will try and buy some of the potential marriages of the boys and see if I can narrow down the years.
of Death for mum.
It's funny I have had Pattillos contact me, but no Connons.

Rose, came to Aus,with her husband. and Daisy did too with hubby and children and Andrew Connon came out too, he was quite old by this time. in the mid 1950s.
I nearly rang an old Pattillo in Aberdeen, last night, but, realized he wouldn't know the Connons. ( I don't think) :-\
I will go to the local mormons and narrow down the births of the children of Andrew Connon, and Helen Duncan Shand, tomorrow.
they have the indexes on film, and go a lot further than scotlandspeople.
I will have to take a sleeping tablet, tonight ;D
I stay up all night watching the tennis! love it!!!! ;D
love you all.

Hi All, who have stuck this far. :D
This is the latest,...
Thanks to dkmcad and ysabeau . 8)
who gave me some sites to, send inquiries.

Judith Legg, was a great help, with the Valuation Rolls, for Hatton,

This is part of her letter.
Unfortunately we do not have Post Office Directories for Hatton, only for the city of Aberdeen.  As far as I am aware there are few directories for rural Aberdeenshire.
I have also checked through a few of the Valuation rolls, which we hold.  In the 1904-1905 roll there is an Ann Shand (widow) listed as the occupier of a house called Daisy Cottage, Hatton.  The person renting the property is listed as George Shand (shoemaker).  Unfortunately we do not have a complete set of Valuation rolls and the next one we have is for 1907-1908 by which time the occupier of the house has changed. From the above details you will have more idea than me as to whether the people mentioned are your relatives. Aberdeen Archives have a more complete set of valuation rolls.  Their email address is archives[AT]legal.aberdeen.net.uk.

I hope this is of some help and wish you well with your quest.

Also........

There were actually 3 or 4 addresses  listed as Daisy cottage Hatton. These appear to be in the same place as the are listed one after the other

1904-1905
George Shand (tenant) occupied by Ann Shand (widow)
Christina Andrew, wife of James Andrew a soldier in South Africa
Mary Davidson (spinster)
Empty
1907-1908
Andrew Connon (postman) appears as tenant of a house (no name) in Hatton but not Daisy cottage.

1911-1912
A Connon (postman) is listed as tenant of garden ground, Hatton and there is an Andrew Connon (church officer) tenant of house and garden listed under the United Free Church.

1920-1921
A Connon- garden ground only

1924-1925
A Connon- garden ground only

1932-1933
Andrew Connon (postman) tenant of house No. 23, Hatton. (not Daisy cottage)

1941-1942
Daisy Cottage listed as uninhabitable

This is another helpful site...

There are two burial grounds in Cruden - if you mean Cruden Cemetery please contact Shirley Dickie on 01779 483245 or e-mail shirley.dickie[AT]aberdeenshire.gov.uk and she will be able to give you a quotation - she is the Registrar for Cruden. However if the burial took place in St James Cemetery Cruden this is a private burial ground and Aberdeenshire Council do not hold burial records for private cemeteries - these records are usually held by the minister.

If you require any further information Shirley Dickie will be happy to help you.

Ah KJ, everywhere you turn leads you to that "brick wall".

Ibi, if you are out there, have you any thoughts on the situation ???

With my "limited" knowledge of genealogy, I can only think that Ann's death certificate was one of the "escapees", or she married again and her death was only recorded under her "new" married name, with no previous names given?????  I see Helen, daughter, died in Aberdeen.  Could she have gone there with the family after the boys died ???
So many questions, not a lot of answers ;D
