Great Grandparents Booth
« on: Friday 24 October 14 13:50 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for info on Sophia Elizabeth Booth Nee Howard. She was married to Charles Booth.
I have My Grandfather and two siblings on 1891 census. My Grandfather was Edward Booth He is just three on the census. He said that he was orphaned when aged about 6 years, when my mum asked him why all he would say was you don't need to know. Edward and his sister Sophia were sent to their Aunt and Uncle to live that's who brought them up. What I would like to know is what happened to Sophia Elizabeth and husband Charles. They are not to be found on the 1901 Census, just seemed to have drawn a blank. Any help please. Thank you.
Regards Linda.

I see that Eliza, William and Sophia were at Bethnal Green Parish School in Leyton in 1891: RG12/1352/109/1.

Amelia looks likely to have died in Bethnal Green, Mar qtr 1886 aged 1.

I saw that but wondered why Sophia would still be enumerated as "wife/married" in the 1891 census ???

He'd also have died before the conception of Edward and George.

When Eliza marries Reuben Wood in Bethnal Green in 1898 her father is stated as Charles Booth (dead), occupation unknown.

Reuben & Eliza Wood then witnessed the marriage of Eliza's sister Sophia to Robert Bernard Pickering in Bethnal Green in 1906.
