Something doesn't quite add up, unless the number of years married on 1911 was up to the point Robert died, rather than time back from 1911. The latter option would suggest John was the oldest of 12, and Elizabeth had this first child at age 40!

Hi
I agree something is wrong here.
I've checked the GRO birth indexes for Robert ,John and Nathaniel and they are all registered in West Bromwich as Thompson .
Robert June 1889 6b 891
John Mar 1888 6b 816
Nathaniel June 1891 6b 953.
Nathaniel is born 31.5.1891 and marries a Catherine Donahue 20.11.1911 at Holy Cross Liverpool ,dies 17.4.1931 according to an online family tree on Ancestry but no parents or siblings mentioned.
There seems to be no marriage that fits easily for the couple ,so could Beech be her maiden name and the couple be unmarried?
John may not be the eldest child as you say the 1911 census gives 12 children 6 dead.
Have you got the birth certificates which should give her maiden name?
Robert Thompson I definitely don't think started life as Thompson. He seems to have died in West Bromwich age 49 June 1896 6b 490 .Could the death certificate explain more,I doubt it but you never know.

Hi me again
Had a quick look at Familysearch.
Have you seen Robert Thompson and Elizabeth Myatt baptising children at the catholic church of St Peter and Pauls Wolverhampton?
Robertus Thomas 22.4.1875
Aloysims Moutril1 12.7.1878
Theresa 23.11.1879
Sebastian Julius 6.7.1881
This would fit with Nathaniel's catholic marriage and Theresa is rebaptised at Wednesbury 29.4.1883.
I know it's a lot earlier but I thought worth a mention.

Sorry not them they are on the 1891 census, should have checked

I had picked up Elizabeth Myatt myself - there's a marriage with an Elizabeth and a Robert Thompson in Q2 1874, Wolverhampton (Vol 6b p819). The only candidate in Bilston is b 1856 - so the wrong age  for the census (except in 1901) but a better age to be having 12 children!
