HELP Census look up 1861 1871 1891
« on: Thursday 03 April 14 13:27 BST (UK) »
Hello! I wonder if there's someone out there who has access to the original census documents and who would be willing to help look up my great-grandparents on the 1861/1871/1891 census', as I can't find them on the 1881 one.

I'm looking for:

LOUISA WILLIS 1877 (lived in the Stourbridge area)
Siblings: Annie, Mary, Kate, Willie, Ike and Joe (no more info available).

and...

THOMAS JOSIAH JOHNSON 1872 (lived in the Stourbridge are)
Siblings: Selina, Albert, Isaac, Herbert and Josiah (no more info available).

Thomas and Louisa married in 1896 in Stourbridge with Albert Chance and Phoebe Elizabeth Perkins as their witnesses. I don't know if this info will help.

Any extra information found would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat  :)  Could you give us their fathers names and occupations from their marriage certificate?

Welcome to Rootschat.

As they weren't born until 1871/1872 they are not going to appear on the 1871 and 1861 census. Do you have their birth certificates as that will give parents' names and we may be able to find them.

As far as the Louisa Willis is concerned it appears her parents were a Joseph Willis and a Letiitia Foyzer who married at Stourbridge in 1864,March quarter,Volume 6c,Page 223.I've found this from an initial Census entry and a Tree I found on Ancestry.

1871-RG10/2993/1119/33.
1881-RG11/2893/138/20.
1891-RG12/2308/77/17.
1901-RG13/2760/5/2.

Thank you for your replies! I don't have any certificates so I couldn't see anymore info. All I know is that Thomas Johnson worked in the mines all his life, so maybe his father did too. Can anyone find any info on him?

Hi,

Could you tell us how you know of Thomas' siblings please? As that info may help us to locate the family.  :)

As far as Thomas Josiah Johnson is concerned,it seems he very rarely if ever used the middle name or initial.He shows as the son of a Thomas amd Selina Johnson as follows;

1891-RG12/2303/108/4.
1881-RG11/2888/133/42.

It appears he was the son of a James Thomas Johnson and a Selina Bache whose marriage is showing in the Stourbridge District in the Apr/May/Jun quarter of 1873.Volume 6c,Page 272.

I'm sorry if it seems I've taken all the fun out of searching for them for yourself!

Thank you so much for your help! I only had info past down to me by relatives that are no longer with us and I couldn't locate them. Rather than take the fun out of it, you've opened up the way!!! Thank you! :-)

For William:

I've just looked on the 1881 census again and I can't find Thomas Johnson nor his household. Where were they living??

Thanks
