I am not sure, but do know that familysearch is all done by volunteers, and the oldest records are being put on the site first.

Sometimes if you google the name of the person you are looking for you will come across the justice department site for the person concerned which will give the estate file number.  For some reason I have never been able to find things on the justice department site but only have found them by googling - probably the grey hair!!

The records of estate files and death notices go up to 1973 in Natal, and probably the same in other areas. This is for the National Archives. Not sure about Family Search.

Hi

Try these two maybe of some use

https://icmsweb.justice.gov.za/mastersinformation/MastersOfficeWebPortal/DeceasedSearch

https://icmsweb.justice.gov.za/mastersinformation/

The last one has options for other selections on the left of the page.

If your search in the Deceased returns a result you can click on the file and then on "open" and it gives some detail. but not much.

Good luck, research in South Africa can be challenging ;D
